Fun in February

I love the unstructured downtime that school breaks bring. Here are some fun photos from the backyard.

We are a little obsessed with NBA basketball and Jeremy Lin these days...

Please, nobody show this photo to my grandmother.

At the circus

At an animal refuge park nearby with cousins

Always a reason for a light saber duel

I don't have a picture of this, but while at the animal refuge park, a caged cheetah tried to pounce my niece. The worker told us that cheetahs are predators, and they will try to attack a young child if given the opportunity. Sure enough, as our group made our way to another cage to see a cougar, nine year old Marianna stayed back and nonchalantly turned her back on the cheetah. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw it: the animal leapt from its perch and sprang toward her, colliding with the wired fence. She turned just in time to see the cheetah faceplant into the wire. Of course, she was unharmed, but it was a good lesson never to turn your back on a predatory animal!
